What features should I look for if I'm buying a Digital Slr (dslr) camera?
Sorry it's for use for still shots of cars and general images, and then for rapid shots of cars racing (eg. F1) so is that frame rate and all that?
Most of the current models are very good, excellent image quality, really similar. There will always be people defending one or the other model, but I believe that it is hard to decide based on a supplier.
Important factors are the cost and the weight of the camera. Here you have a lot of differences.
Another very important aspect are the lenses. What will you photograph? What lenses are the best in this case? Are you prepared to pay for them? Are they available for the chosen camera?

Sigma AF 24mm 2.8 Macro Super-Wide II for Minolta Maxxum Dynax SLR/DSLR cameras, also fits Sony Alpha A-mount DSLR cameras The Sigma AF 24mm f/2.8 macro is capable to deliver a very solid performance which is still up to the current quality standards. The resolution is already high at f/2.8 and improves further up to excellent (center) and very good (border) levels at f/8. The distortion and CA characteristics are about average for a lens in this class. The vignetting at large apertures could be a bit better especially considering that this is a full format lens used on an APS-C DSLR. The build quality is very fine and the AF performance leaves nothing to be desired. As mentioned you will not be able to find the Sigma in shops anymore but it is quite frequently offered on the used market for quite low prices.
