how to zoom my home theater picture to full screen?
my LG LCD TV LF 15 won't show full pictures from my dvd player? Have zoom on tv ok, but when playing movies, have black lines top and bottom. Shows only 4:3, 16:9 and what about video Resolution set on 1080p is that correct,
tried many ways to full screen, but does not change.
Widescreen motion pictures are actually wider that television widescreen. When the movie producer puts a movie on DVD, a decision has to be made whether to optimize to the 16:9 television shape, which requires chopping off the right and left edges of the picture, or providing the entire width of the original movie which requires putting black bars at the top and bottom. Older movies filmed with a lot of action on the sides, like "Ben Hur" usually make the DVD version with black bars so the action is not chopped off. Most modern movies are shot so as to be able to be seen on a 16:9 television without losing essential picture elements on the side. This is called "protecting" in the trade. A few directors still insist on superwide action, so even some newer movies require the black bar so you can see the entire picture.
